Friction Stir Welding Machine 2D-FSW

Friction Stir Welding Machine 2D-FSW

Friction Stir Welding (FSW) Machine 2D-FSW

For Linear and arbitrary two-dimensional curved welding of planar materials

Main features and specifications

Joiniting position

The material is welded by inserting a cylindrical tool which is called rotary tool, into the material to the specified depth. And the tool traverses along with desired welding path.

Principle

The material near the rotating tool is heated by the frictional and processing heat generated between the rotating tool and the material, causing it to soften. The softened material is then stirred by the rotation of the tool and solid-state welding occurs behind the tool.

Manufacturing of copper alloy backing plates

By leveraging the characteristic of low temperature rise during welding, not only can the reduction of thermal effects—which has been a challenge—be achieved, but manufacturing in a general environment is also possible, as there is no need for a vacuum chamber to generate a high vacuum.

Structural refinement of aluminum castings

By friction stirring the area where microstructural refinement is desired, not only can a cross-sectional structure free of pinholes be formed, but the refinement of the microstructure also enables transformation into a more homogeneous material.
